[Voice Post]Ah, how odd, I seem to have misplaced my riding companions... my wife... and the entire country of Florin . While this is a definite advantage in terms of escaping further pursuit, it is a rather hollow victory without ...my ...wife, who is, after all, the entire reason for the endeavor in the first place. By that token, the same goes ( Read more... )

There's more than a few ships around this place, mein herr. But none of them can leave.

And do not think they haven't tried.

You just say that because none have been successful, yet.

Indeed, mein herr, you are most perceptive.

None have been intentionally successful yet, although it would seem an unknown hand of fate can pull individuals in and out against their will.

Perhaps I should introduce myself. I am called the Major.

I try to be.

Troubling, that. I'll have to look into it, those sorts of things tend to work in my favor.

A pleasure to meet you, Major, I'm known as the Dread Pirate Roberts; are most on this communication network completely insane? I'm going to assume it's not some type of grand joke; no one has that bad a sense of humor.

Welcome, you are in the City, as far as anyone is aware, there is no other name for it, though at this point I tempted to merely create one to ease the confusion some. People come here from...well..all over. Different worlds and times.

Leaving is...interesting. Some people seem to be able to pop in and out as they please, some vanish and then reappear seemingly at random, some find a way out and leave for good, and some just dissapear forever.

As for the rest, I'd say at this point you should find someplace to stay, and get ready for a span of incredibly intersting days.

Oh, and I wouldn't worry about your wife, if the statements of individuals that left and returned is any indication, no time will pass in your home while you are here.

Thank you for your pains, sir, if I should see the asylum you've escaped from, I'll let them know straightaway. The feat would be easier if you'd give me your name, remember, this is all in the interest of your mental health.

Ah yes, the confusion of arrival.

Ted Forrester, member of the Police force here. Something of a...greeter...for the City.

As for mental institutions, well, I'm currently at the hospital, so I wouldn't worry overly much.

Dread Pirate Roberts at your service, so nice of them to give you one of these... communication devices at your bedlam.

Oh, you actually can't leave. The City sort of .. well, I believe it sucks you in. There is more, but where are you; we'll make sure you're out of any danger first.

Curiouser and curiouser.

Nonesense, you only say that because none have yet to succeed.

I assure you, miss, any danger faced is danger I can face on my own.

Yes, it is disturbingly like watching the movie ... another eight times in a row ....

Actually several have. The trick, apparently, is to not look for one; it will find you.

This danger is unlike any you have faced before. Besides, should you die it would be quite messy.

Though the idea is charming, I find that course of action too passive for one such as myself. I'll have to look into other methods.

All dangers are like those I've never faced before, it's not as if I'd go and do the same dangerous thing over and over again. And I believe I know something of death, thank you.

You'll be wanting a stable for that horse.

I think the horse may want a stable more than me.

An animal that has performed its duties well should be rewarded, and I'm afraid that you won't be using him to leave the City in any case--as you've no doubt been told already.

Several times. Such a consistent story, one has no choice but to at least entertain the possibility.
