Well, if that was the case...why did Mello even care in the first place? Needless to say, Matt was confused. "...Kay." But whatever. It made things easier for him.

"Yeah, eventually." Matt echoed the sentiment. "You're kind of hard to avoid."

"... I can hear, you know." She's trying to adjust to what seems like very harsh light and very loud voices. There's a headache mixed in with all of that.

"I would prefer not to be thrown out, and Mello, it's not the best idea for you to wander around alone." Halle coughs a few times, trying to buy time to think while the room stops spinning.

"Yeah, hi sweetheart." Ignoring everything but 'I can hear, you know.' "Now, I have things to find. Things to do."

"Hey Mello, how about this."

Even though Matt seemed calm enough he didn't exactly feel too great about staying with the dying chick or letting Mello go out on a manhunt for Near.

"How about I go look for Near and you stay here."

"Sounds perfectly fine with me. Mello, if whatever happened earlier happens again, I would like to be around to interfere."

She tries to move and face him, but winces and pulls back. Halle gets a clear enough look at Matt- and freezes, just for a moment. She's seen him before. Best she doesn't have to suffer through time alone with him.

"I'd like to go myself. Don't want to waste time, you know." Not that he doesn't trust Matt, he's just not wholly convinced in the two-man thing. He glances down at Halle.

Didn't want to waste time? "Mello, knowing you you'll end up just arguing with him." He shot a look in Halle's direction. "And I don't know what she's talking about but if she had to interfere in anything, I don't trust you not ripping Near a new asshole."

"I can't stay here alone, Mello's dangerous to himself and others if he gets worked up again, and you're making sense."

Halle tries to lie down again in a somewhat comfortable manner.

"Fuck, looking out for him? At least don't do it to my face, man. Ripping that twat one is part of the fun, and Hal, if I'm dangerous either way that problem's not going to change no matter what we go for. Now at least play the part of dying heroine realistically."

"Mello, stay with Halle." Matt was serious as he spoke, more so than usual, moving toward the door. "If you want Near so bad I'll get him for you, but right now?" He shrugged pathetically. "I don't really trust you when you're like...this."

"Does that include--" She cuts herself off, nods to Matt, and closes her eyes as she tries to ignore her surroundings.

"Actually, Mello, my leg seems to be feeling rather numb, so, how do we fix that. Also, a bit dizzy. Wouldn't mind a glass of water, even." The slight slur is back, she tries to breath smoothly.

"You're gonna have me rub her feet whilst you kick around with Near!? The intoxicant is dry, there's nothing wrong with me." Hitting out at the wall with a half-hearted fist, because his show of endurance apparently proves everything.

"Sure there isn't." Matt rolled his eyes, not bothering to wait around anymore. The air was too tense. Matt didn't function well in tense situations. "'Kay bye you guys. I'll go find Near."

And with that Matt opened the door and moved to leave the two dysfunctional blonds to themselves.
