Seriously, What Do I Even Have All These Icons For If I Can't Use Them?

I gotta say, I am getting really, really tired of not being able to use anything but my default icon on LJ comments. It's looking to me now like the icon selection is working OK on the default-style comments pages, but not on customized pages. I think. If they don't get this thing fixed soon, I might have to break down and switch to the default

It seems to vary for me - I select an icon, it switches to default when I post the comment, but sometimes if I edit the comment it's OK again. But we can't keep editing icons on the off-chance... Haven't noticed a difference between styles of pages.

Now, can I get Arthur Dent to whimper here?

Editing it after posting always seems to work, but, man, I don't want to do that. Not only is it annoying to have to do every time, but I don't want to spam everybody with twice as many e-mail notifications. Sigh.

Okay, all you have to do is this: click the "more options" button & select your icon then and it should post fine. It's a nuisance, but you can do it, you don't have to edit or preview anything & it seems to work each time for me. *crosses fingers as she types*

(If the comment gives you "[preview" instead of "more options" - that's the random times when it works anyway! So LJ are fiddling with something in the set up? I don't know?)

But an flister told me that & it works; don't go changing to the horrid default!

It's a relief, because default-only and/or endless editing are just no way to have a civilised existence on LJ.

(And it wasn't me, it was my always-smart flister lolmac who worked it out, I think.)

It's bugging me too. It seems like they messed it up the same time they updated the LJ app, I think. The only way it seems to work on my layout, too, is via the More Options button. I'll have to see if I can remember that, because you're right, it's a PITA to have to spam people with e-mail comment notifications!

Now, let's see... I hope this icon is Blake poking the tape-recorder buttons on Avon's tunic to see whether he can get him to shut up... *fingers crossed*
