[Spoiler cut with no spoilers behind it!] OK, well, that works, but there's no way to end the cut, so you can't have no-spoilery stuff after your spoiler cut. And after a bit of fiddling around, I've detemined that if you don't put a line break after the cut, like,

I really like the ability to click on something and get it to show up without having to reload the page. It does seem like a great way of hiding spoilers.
Found the explanation -- apparently if you don't let livejournal.com run Javascript (which I don't, because of the previous issues with virus-laded ads), the cut doesn't happen:
I started playing around with it so quickly that apparently I was the first on to catch the bug with the line breaks. Which they then actually responded to pretty quickly, although they don't seem to have fixed it yet.
