Ok, soooooo ... after reading icedteainthebag's fascinating poll and discussion on the state of the fandom at the moment, mmegiry and I are planning to set up a comm specifically for longer fics (probably around 1000+ words, but it's negotiable), where there will be challenges and discussions and feedback and support and inspiration for writers, hopefully, somewhere

1. is it open for EVERY pairing? please make that a yes

Yep! I expect that certain pairings will get more airings than others just because they are more popular, but I wouldn't want to limit it to only certain characters or pairings. The idea is to get creative juices flowing, not to limit people.

2. what will be the difference to bsg2003fics be? *just curious*

As far as I can tell, bsg2003fics is mostly just used for people to post up their fics so as to get readers. The idea for this comm would be to provide challenges, to provide more specific support and feedback, to allow discussions on any topics people want to discuss, and for people to seek advice and inspiration and motivation, somewhere which is friendly and welcoming. Hopefully, at least!

3. the time frame between challenges?I'm thinking possibly one month deadlines for challenges, but that will really be dependent on what people want, to be honest. If people prefer smaller or larger timeframes, then we can do that quite happily. It's a

Challenges would only happen if that's what people would like. If it's something most members aren't interested in, we'll find another way to do things. It's mostly about providing a comm to help inspire and motivate and support people, so how we do that depends on how people would like us to do it, really!

It seemed from icedtea's poll that long form fic is what people would really like to see more of, so it really would be great if we could stimulate more of that. I'll finish up my endless questionnaire this evening and get it posted up so that you guys can overwhlem me with ideas and requests :)

I love the idea. I still love the BSG fandom, and I have a few fic ideas in my head that just won't quite work their way out. I have yet to write an actual BSG fic, so something like this could be super helpful to get that going.
