I'm still so angry I can't even think. Seriously, did they change the writers since last season? What happened? It's like this season is written by some people who read about PoI on wikipedia and decided to use every stupid trope in the book.
They rushed their relationship to the romantic stage in that weird, out-of-character way, completely ignoring other, more important moments between them (Number Crunch, that freaking bomb-vest, the interrogation), and then they fucking fridged her.
I can't believe it. She didn't even get an heroic, meaninful death, she got fridged because evidently John wasn't having any character development lately and this was the best they could come up with. What the hell.
And besides, wasn't the entire point of the first season that it was Finch who rescued John, who gave him a reason to live? What the hell?
Also it took me hours to remember why the bullet thing was so familiar, but now I think they were clumsily referencing a similar scene in Lethal Weapon. Although there he was telling his partner, and the scene had a total different poignancy, instead of coming so out of the blue.
And besides, wasn't the entire point of the first season that it was Finch who rescued John, who gave him a reason to live? What the hell? Not only the first season, but all through the second. (points at icon) As Finch stood there defusing that bomb vest, Reese told him he was sure he'd already be dead if not for Finch. In Contingency, he told everyone he only had one friend and he wanted to find him. He told numbers time and time again that someone found him and gave him a purpose and he didn't mean Carter. I would have understood a lot better if they'd have referenced Number Crunch or any of the other times he and Carter have shown feelings for each other, instead of them attempting to rewrite history and make the only reason he started to redeem himself was meeting her in the police station that night. It's been bad enough that the entire friendship between Reese and Finch has been completely on the back burner this season, but how the writers could have completely discounted everything Reese has ever said about why he's doing what
( ... )
honestly, I may have as well. I seriously don't know. It's just, when the writers are literally saying ALL of their characters are going to "bite it" in such stupid ways, I don't want to invest in them!
Right around the time they started getting romantic, I'm sitting there going "oh show, don't even, just...noo" and my sister is just like "I'm suddenly picturing a giant shark leaping over NYC". And as it proceeded to get worse and worse she just kept making a jumping gesture accompanied by a hysterical "wheeee".
It was just so out of left field and just SO BADLY done, all of it. Carter, totally badass made of win char, also one of only two women leads and poc, and you suddenly just make her romantic for the sole purpose of fridging her?! Seriously show, seriously?! It was just so bad it was almost hilarious. OH SHOW :--p
