In which asthenie looks at a weird movie

Finally, amazon marketplace had an offer low enough for me to consider and buy that terrible, terrible Witcher movie. You know, they one the author of the original books threatened to leave Poland over, because he felt so offended by his fellow countrymen? ;) Yeah, it's that one ( Read more... )

I gathered from the wiki that they relesed the film first, but that doesn't say anything about how film and show got made, of course. Plus, there's gotta be more material on the show than we see in the film. Much, much more (13 40 minute episodes and a 130 minute film just don't add up). I remember watching bits on youtube and there definitely were elves in there somewhere. There are no elves in the film though.

*g* I didn't even notice! Perhaps his leather pants sat too tight? *g*

I think in the first picture the dragon doesn't look that bad (for a dragon...not for a majestic golden dragon)...but the close-ups somehow remind me of...I don't know...a children's movie XD
And as I still haven't read the books I cannot make a more qualified comment XD But it sounds like painful fun :D

Hm, I don't know. Even in the total the dragon just doesn't look very convincing. Maybe if the environment were computer generated too, but this way he just looks like a toy. And yeah, he's just too cute in the clopse-up. fortytwoeyes already said he reminded him of Poldi, and it's not too far off.

it sounds like painful fun

I couldn't have summed it up better.

on the one hand you keep thinking "what did you do to my beautiful books?!" and on the other hand you can't stop laughing at the exploding monsters, or the non-sensical jumps in between scenes. *g*

Mich erinnert er mehr an den Drachen aus Shrek. Der Babydrache hat dafür eher was von einen hässlichen Seepferd über Wasser.

Ahaha, thank you for linking me to this thread! That is indeed some... impressive production values. The beautiful wisdom dragon XD XD

Ciri does look cute, though! And Geralt from the back is not bad :P
