You know, you and I could probably spend a perfectly delightful week together just watching DVDs. *grin*

But I'd insist on seeing at least one of your dance performances--I could drag myself away from the TV for that. :-)

:)))

I'm just reading your answers as I wanted to fill in mine first.

While I didn't watch enough "House" yet to want some snogging time (he's on when I'm working), your answer to #15 stumped me. Giles? You? (Hey, that was *my* answer, too. ;)

Yes, Picard is nice, but he needs a Q.

Did you realize that (ok - I'm not counting House) the guys on your list all speak British English? (Actually, most of the Brits I met in RL were kinky. However, I'm not sure if it's the Brits in general or just the ones I and my friends choose for company.)

btw: did you ever watch B7? There's not enough Servalan fic in the world .

Avon: Servalan.
Servalan: I think, if you don't mind, I would prefer my slave to address me as "Mistress."

Oh, Hugh Laurie (House) is British too. He used to be in British comedy stuff. But, yes, I'm meaning characters, not actors. And I'm an accent slut.

Why does Giles surprise you? Or were you kidding? I slash him w/ Spike, but there's something about his character that really makes me melt.

No, I didn't watch B7. I don't know why it never crossed my radar, although I knew plenty of B7 fans once I got into fandom.

Oh, is he? That's great! I only zapped into the show on German TV and so far I haven't seen an undubbed episode. For some reason it never occurred to me that House might cater to my "voice fetish".

Giles: no, I wasn't kidding. *Takes a closer look at the mechanics of her mind, winces and tries to explain* Hm .... *frowns* ....

Does it make any sense if I say that in some way the hotness of a character being slashed and the character as a person might tickle in different places?

*frowns again and tries an other angle*

*deletes the different angle*

I think the surprise stems from me (almost) totally ignoring Ripper!Giles.

*frowns again and realizes that if that were true I wouldn't have answered Giles, too ... - or my "silverback fetish" is worse than I thought*

I'm procrastinating. Does it show? ;)

It's definitely the combination of Tweedy!Giles and Ripper!Giles that gets me. Esp. w/ me being kinky and disabled. Having a top who's both caring and sadistic would satisfy almost all the parts of me that feel empty. And I can see Giles as being that kind of dom. Of course, in RL, I'd want said top to be female. :-)

If I ever have energy again, I'll get back to my Giles/Spike story--Giles is very much the top. But I've written him as the sub and Spike as the dom too. That's the joy of Joss's characters.

I wouldn't mind seeing the whole slashy thing with Picard and Giles, and you know I am a minor slashperson ( Krychek and Mulder, very occasionally...and I don't feel Spangel is slash because it's canon - twice - ) ....

I had fun with my list, too.

Now, let me ask one of my local slash experts...used to be in the good ol' days, that slash meant a gay or lesbian relationship construed by either subtext of fannishness...not canon. I've heard mention of Tara/ Willow as slash. I don't think that fits the older definition-- thus my crack about Spangel-- because obviously Tara/Willow are canon.
What's the current definition?

I also think my biggest crush--Jack of SG1, is someone I realise I wouldn't want to have a relationship with, but rather, Daniel Jackson of the same show. Really, could you see me with a General, even one who's always "sticking it to the man?"

I dunno. I'm starting to think there are as many definitions of "slash" as there are of "liberal." I still call something slashy if it's implied not TOTALLY EXPLICIT on the series, regardless of what the creator says later. There's a mention of Spike/Angel as having "one time" on the series, and it's hard to argue with that, but until that point, their relationship strikes me as much more subtextual for most of both series--deliberately so, but able to be ignored by those not in the know and screaming w/ clues all over for those who are in the know.

There are still Xena fans who aren't adverse to the idea of Xena/Gab, but who can still interpret them on the series as either friends or lovers.

All I can say about Willow/Tara is that the more explicit queer relationships we see on TV in that mode--there but not made a big deal of--the better ( ... )

My slash definition is possibly very retro...it comes from the original great-greatgrandaddy of m/m slash---Kirk/Spock, which of course, was non-canon and subtextual. I wasn't into it much.
I am sticking with it.
Wonder what the first f/f slash was? Maybe there was a few Nurse Chapel/ Uhura, but I don't remember ever hearing of it.

I don't think canon gay/lesbian relationships count as slash. Well, in my "fanictionary" anyway!!

Six Feet Under also had a "life as usual" gay relationship.
It's part of human life...kinda like "we are going to to have an interesting show about life in the Bay area...but no gays, no lesbians..." who's life hasn't been touched by GLBT culture in the Bay area...

I would say you're a lesbian with "slight" bi tendencies. Like one of the characters on "the L Word"... sexual preference is a continuum. "Slight" tendencies would connote a maybe 15% chance of an actual sexual relationship between a man...in my book. With emphasis on the maybe.

I guess my def. of slash might be more flexible just b/c I find the idea of K/S appalling--and that's only b/c I find the idea of Kirk having sex w/ anyone appalling.

It's funny b/c when we were nine, my best friend and I played "Star Trek," and we were Mary Sues par excellence. She had a thing for Spock, and I had a thing for McCoy, but we were always smarter than they were. :-)

But somehow most places don't have that category as one to check off. :-) I almost always have more of an interest in characters than actors, but I'd go for Patrick Stewart in a second. I've probably related this conversation I had w/ a student many moons ago (said student was what he called "bent," not 100% straight, but not extremely rarely finding men ( ... )
