We've been struggling with the school for weeks, while they waffle back and forth about whether or not they'll give my daughter an official dx of Asperger's or not, so she can get services.  (eta:  For background's sake, her brother has autism.)

My boyfriend has looked up aspergers some, and found a lot of horror stories of women complaining about how cold and uncaring their aspie husbands are, and he keeps wondering if women are not as bad, because he doesn't see those qualities in me. This is an article I was sent that ran in the New York Times and relates to what xkateinjapanx just posted. Any thoughts on the article? The math, reading/writing, and fantasy thing very much stood out for me.http

So I've read that, supposedly, more men than women have Aspeger's (or, to be more technical, diagnosed with Asperger's).  Can anyone explain - or directly to somewhere that does - why this is?

And for those who have been a part of the community longer (and know more people), what seems to be the gender ratio here?
