I take 50,000 IU capsules once a week and I don't get sleepy from it.

Weird.

Interesting...I seem to recall that my psychiatrist told me to take my Vitamin D in the MORNING because it could make sleep MORE difficult.

Umm.... as far as I was aware, it's relatively hard to OD on Vitamin D... In fact, I know people who are on daily regimens of very high doses of vitamin D. It's known to help keep down inflammation and helps bone structures, all sorts of things.

I hope you got to sleep! haha

The issue with taking too much vitamin D is that it's a hormone regulator, so if you take too much it can throw off your hormonal equilibrium. That's why having blood work done to establish a proper dosage is recommended.

Yeah. That's why lacking vitamin D can be so terrible for you (it can cause death in extreme deficiency cases).

Are there any other ingredients in the supplement? Is it a D3 supplement or a D2 supplement? I would get a blood test to actually check your D levels.

D3 cholecalciferol
I'm now using "nature's bounty" brand
"Other ingredients: Dicalcium phosphate, vegetable cellulose, vegetable stearic acid, silica, vegetable magnesium stearate"

It's possible that you could be sensitive to one of the other ingredients, but not very likely.

Some people with very low D levels experience sleepiness after beginning to up their D levels through supplementation. Vitamin D can also lower blood pressure. Sleepiness is an unusual side effect so I would go to a doctor to discuss this if possible.
