Yea, I know it's not AS or autism related, but when I watched it, I felt that I could actually relate to the things that he talked about, from having someone say something that just shows how uneducated they are about it, to living with it ( Read more... )

I definitely have ADD (I'm only wondering if I have Aspergers).

My reaction to this video is not nearly so positive. Gift, my @ss. Yeah, yeah, yada yada creativity and all that is wonderful. It's a DISORDER. In my experience it's more disorder than gift. It's kicking my butt, and no, I'm not grateful for it.

Maybe in a year, or 5 years, or 30 years, I'll look back and be thankful that I was "gifted" with ADD. Right now I'd like to give this guy a swift kick in the nuts.

I didn't watch the video, but thanks for the warning. I feel the same way about ADHD as you do. It's seriously disabling in my case, and I think the people who think it's a "gift" either have/are familiar with really mild ADHD, or are kidding themselves.

Welp, he can say that it's a gift because he's been able to use it to his advantage to be successful at life. Others that haven't been able to do so yet are certainly feeling more of the "disorder" than the "gift ( ... )

Or the ignorance that makes you want to slam your head against the wall, since talking to those sorta folks has the same basic effect.
