I have no idea why autistics are so afraid of driving, to be honest! I was only afraid because when I was little I was almost hit by a car and could have been killed. I found driving it's like... all rules. It's really systematic and I love it. Sometimes people do crazy things, but that's because they're idiots. There's no social conducts, no subtley in driving, you stick to the rules. I think it's great

A good instructor can make all the difference. I learned to parallel park pretty well but only because I had an instructor that was able to show me exactly what part of my car to line up with what part of the car behind me to get it right.
simply put, I get so overwhelmed that I zone out, which is not a good thing to happen behind the wheel!I can't begin to count how many times I drove someplace, got there, and as I was getting out of the car I realized that I couldn't remember the trip. That can be pretty scary to realize after the fact that you just drove fifteen miles in a blackout

Ah, yes... I've found that my limit tends to be somewhere between 30 and 45 minutes as well... I really start zoning out if I don't manage to get some rest after that much driving. It can be even shorter if it's a really complicated pattern of traffic that I'm trying to follow.
