simply put, I get so overwhelmed that I zone out, which is not a good thing to happen behind the wheel!

I can't begin to count how many times I drove someplace, got there, and as I was getting out of the car I realized that I couldn't remember the trip. That can be pretty scary to realize after the fact that you just drove fifteen miles in a blackout.

And no matter what my state of mind, I can't drive for more than thirty to forty minutes without stopping the car, getting out, walking around. Once my car broke down and I got a ride into town and then my dad went out with me to fix my car. We were driving back to town and I dind't want to be a bother so I didn't try taking stops like I usually do and the next thing I knew, there was a loud scraping sound bringing me back to reality . . . a reality where my car was all the way up against the barrier between the two sides of the highway and sparks were coming up past my window.

What's worse, the last thing I remembered, I had been in the outside lane, so I drifted over three lanes and up against the barrier, entirely unconscious.

I changed back to the outside lane and took the next exit, trying to get off the road before I panicked. There happened to be a diner there, so I told my dad I needed some coffee. He said okay and I said something about the dumb move I just made. My dad said, "what dumb move?"

I said, "didn't you see me change three lanes and then change them back before I pulled off?" He said, "well, yeah. That was kind of weird but I didn't think anything about it."

I decided not to tell him the part about the barrier and the sparks because I didn't want him to worry.

Ah, yes... I've found that my limit tends to be somewhere between 30 and 45 minutes as well... I really start zoning out if I don't manage to get some rest after that much driving. It can be even shorter if it's a really complicated pattern of traffic that I'm trying to follow.
