27th Teddy Bear [Action Anytime]

[Elicia was expecting to be in the middle of a scuffle between enemy winged soldiers. Not to be waking up half-drugged and in an old-fashion malnosso dress. She hadn't done this little dance in a few years now... What did that mean? Did they come back? Impossible, they were... Well, we'll figure this out as we go, Elicia. When she gets up, she ( Read more... )

[At the smithy, Sokka is busy inspecting a new weapon to see if it's ready for Leon to add some runes to it. When he hears someone enter, he doesn't turn to see who it is, but just speaks up to acknowledge their presence.]

Just a minute.

Yeah, sure.

[... What are you doing over there. She limps a little closer, and does the ol' bird-poking-its-head-around maneuver. By the way, she's pretty tall. She aaaalmost made it to 6'0, fancy that. It's a father gene.]

...

[Actually, if she's in the Smithy and this guy is familiar... Could he be...?]

[Tall enough to make them the same height, then. At least for now! When he notices what she's doing, he finally turns around, looking vaguely annoyed at... whoever this is.]

... yes?

Ah, nothing. Just wondering what you were working on, is all... Um. Are you Sokka?

[She already figures what the answer is, but still.]

I'm looking for a sword.

[Winry's in the smithy drawing up sketches for her ideas on Ed's proposed 'lock bar' for the war. Feel free to interrupt her, 'little sis.']

[Boy, this is a toughie. She's practically a stiff board when she comes waddling in on her poor leg. At least she has her normal clothes back. Waddling in a white bland dress just felt like she was a hospital patient.]

U-uh... Are you-You're Winry, right...?

[She adjusts her sunglasses. Because she is the master at stealth.]

I heard you're good with prosthetic limbs...

Oh yes, that's me. How can I help you?

[She looks up at Elicia from her seat. She... stares. That face looks familiar. It's on the tip of her tongue, and she just can't place it. Sadly this takes away from examining Elicia's leg before the other woman answers.]

[The tall lass taps her foot, her leg making the sound of metal clinging against metal.]

I have a prosthetic leg that's been acting up in the knee. I was wondering if you could give it a look.

[Just don't be surprised when it's a lot like Ed's model. Or that it's automail, period.]

[Giles is sifting through the Item Shop, looking for anything that might pass for decent work gloves, when the dress catches his eye. It's normally the dress, it's the best dead give away of a New Feather that there is. He looks up, rubs at his eyes a second just to make sure that he's really seeing what he thinks he's seeing.

...yep. That's a New Feather dress. All right, then.

He waits until Elicia has passed within easy speaking distance on her way to the Item Shop before he speaks.]

...just got in, then?

[Don't mind her, she's just picking up her clothes and-

drops them to stare.

It'd been four years since the revivals worked. It felt so much longer, though. And for a moment, she's reminded of the old days, where people came back within a week. As if it were some morbid vacation.]

[And then awkwardly bending in her messed up automail and stupid dress to pick them back up.]

Ah, sorry; you scared me there... I guess I'm pretty new. As new as they get, right?

[3:^)]

I just sort of... poofed in.

Sorry. That certainly wasn't my intention. [He bends down to help her gather things up.]

Everyone here is new sometime. And "poofing" is the generally accepted method of arrival. It's nothing to be ashamed of, although I do wish they'd think up a better term than "New Feather."

[Ah-she smiles fondly. Even if she's unsure about telling anyone anything, it's... sort of hard not to be happy. You haven't changed as much as some people, Lucy. And as one of the people who are around her age? She valued your time. A lot.]

Hello! I guess I'm a pretty obvious eyesore, right?

[5'9", wobbly leg, silly new blinding white gown... yeah. It's old times.]

You could say that. More like 'poofed' in.

[She grabs a handful of her dress and smiles.]

Dresses aren't my thing like they used to be.

[Derek is on the porch of house 45, carefully carving a wooden stake. He's already gotten the shape and the point, and now he's very carefully putting designs in the side of the wood. He will glance up and nod at the new person passing by, although there is a slight frown; it wasn't time for the new feathers yet, was it?]

[She's pauses, almost flashing that look of 'deer in the headlights'. You didn't change as much as she thought, Derek. But she keeps herself in check and offers a sheepish look.]

Ah. Hey. Would you mind... filling me in on things?

[Might as well do the new person dance. She hasn't seen it for a long while.]

[Derek cocks his head sideways, and then nods and smiles a little. The stake is put down next to several others. And he stands.]

Sure thing. Name's Derek. What can I do for you?
