Boogie Woogie

I cannot begin to tell you how disconcerting it was to watch the Queen dance the Lindy. I kept having to remind myself that this is the same lovely young woman who was a mechanic during World War II. Why shouldn't she dance? What was so disconcerting? Perhaps it was the hat. Or the butter. Or the pony ( Read more... )

still my jack, bloody torchwood, not my doctor, alien autopsy, flat holm not freak island

Liz and I have had a lot of decades to practice dancing. Of course it helps that I'm so good to look at!

Did you know her when she was young? Oh, I'm sure you did. She's always so reserved in public, it's wonderful to know that she lets her hair down when she can. We're good at keeping secrets!

I wish I'd had enough courage to ask her what's in the bloody handbag! The entire world wants to know! I'm sure you do know, Jack. Care to share?

I have no idea. I don't steal from ladies handbags. I saw Hart trying to poke around in there before he was soundly thumped by HRH!

She's remarkably strong. Either that or she carries brass knuckles. I would, if I were the queen.

I had fun. It was nice to hang with an old friend. Well, an old friend whose past is shared with my past as opposed to my future.

From what I'm given to understand, you're not always on such good terms with our monarchs. :) I'm glad you and she are friends.

He's very impertinent, and he refuses to wave properly. Many monarchs are put off by that. I, however, choose to look beyond those tiny foibles. After all, he will have done saved am saving my life, my home, my family, and my dear little pets in the past future. (I do so hate writing in time traveler. It muddles the tenses. Or it might be too many glasses of sherry. It's so hard to tell.)

I have some alien locks that may be a bit tougher than a padlock, if you like; they're down in archives, wouldn't take ten minutes to fix up.

Because lord knows Hart isn't above using boltcutters.

I think the Queen had a very good time, and it went down very well, our little party.

The crayons might be all right but the nurses will probably have words about the fingerpaints. You do, of course, have Torchwood's 100% backing but even Torchwood is afraid of Helen.

All right, no finger paints. I know better than to nark off the nurses! ;)

My father always told me that "locks are for honest men". You told me that John needs responsibility and training. I'm buying conventional locks. :)

Just remember to keep the receipts for the stockings, then, and when they go missing turn them in to me for reimbursement. (I'll take it out of the Wikipedia Tax money).

Just put the brick in your handbag. The trick is to swing back, and then put your shoulder into a good, strong clout. It's the best way to handle ruffians.

apocalypse on your watch? Nah, don't think so.

and how long will it take for John to adjust, mind you he sounds like good entertainment on a weird and wonderful level

Would an apocalypse dare to happen on my watch? I think not! :)

I must confess I'm growing fond of John, in the way you grow fond of a large untrained dog that can't stop humping your leg.

just don't tell John that, he may just take that as permission to try and hump more than just your leg...

That's why she carries the brick!

Hey! It's a use for Hart! He can test-run things you'd like to take to Flat Holm :D

I will find useful work for John if it's the last thing I do! (And it may be... bloody Torchwood.)
