I was trying to explain to Post-Doc that I have to use the confocal microscope to take slices of the cells I'm imaging because they are mitotic and therefore round like beach-balls, where interphase cells are relatively flat, and that various parts of the cellular structure wouldn't be in focus if I simply focused on one plane ( Read more... )

Squishing is probably never good in any professional context, science or other. Unless you are a professional pillow squisher. But there's not a big demand for those.

Today the other one came and asked me how to mix two reagents to get the right working concentration.

She knows the starting concentrations and the desired final concentration. She has a calculator. I don't understand why she can't rub two neurons together and figure that out on her own. It's BASIC MATH.
