Oh yeah, if the fanwork contains a health BDSM relationship I'm assuming any negotiations will have occurred and consent is given then. I'm surprised how often the dub-con label is still given for that, though, with a "dub-con but not really" sort of warning.
Well, maybe for fandom it's not "legitimate non-con" in a slave AU.
Hmm, I can believe that, actually. Because my knee-jerk reaction is that if I see a non-con warning, I won't click a cut or a link. Of course, I generally don't usually read slave-fic, either, so...

Unless of course, it's a consensual BDSM slave/master relationship, in which case that's not "dub-con", EITHER. :D
