I'm reading about Jacques Roumain for a french presentation I have to give on Monday, but I'd rather be reading for sociology.  It's terrible how much I hate french these days.

But I think it really says something when you'd rather be reading about depressing things like how much globalization screws everyone in the world except Western countries ( Read more... )

What is this about Viking Christmas?

Also, you should be Eskimos as much as possible.

ALSO, I met a guy on the rail bus today (rail buses will make more sense after you get my next letter) who worked in West Chester last year. I told him about Noah. I also met an Eastern European woman today who has family in Pittsburg, and I told her about Noah, too-- because Noah's family is from Pittsburg, right? Yay best friend's boyfriend.

I miss. You.

Noah's family likes to do themed christmases, and they haven't done them in a while... but they decided to revive it this year. And since Wende is getting married to a scandinavian man, they decided the only appropriate thing to do would be to have a viking Christmas to celebrate the most intense of all scandinavians! We needed to find surplus halloween costumes, but apparently vikings were big this year, so all the costumes were purchased. Or at least that's what I'd like to think ( ... )

No... the man... was an IT guy of sorts. He worked around the university because he talked about fraternity stuff a little, but I didn't really catch all of that part; and I didn't feel like asking him to repeat himself, so... something about IT, something about frats. Many dots remain unconnected in my head, though. Also, his family was from South Africa.

Ypsilanti.

During drama freshman year, Lauren and I used to roam the halls wearing prop hats. Hers was an Amelia Earhart-style fighter cap; mine was a plastic viking helmet. The horns could rotate, and I used to flip one upside down. We called this 'ghetto viking'.

I'm working on a paper. I hate academic work anymore. I meant for it to be rockstar awesome, but it's pretty mediocre, too. I have another hour to work on it, and I'm not even up to really editing yet.

WHEE!

Nils. That's his name, right?

Oh, don't I know all about hating academic work! Well. Not all of it, I guess. I love reading. And writing reflection papers for Dr. Monteiro's class, because I just get to rant about it all and then he loves to bring up my paper in class, which makes me happy.

And yes, Nils!

I'm bummed that the man you met on the train wasn't Aussie Tim, if only because it would be an excellent story.

I'm about to get out my sample ballot and make plans for what I'm going to do tomorrow! I read on NPR today that it takes the average, unprepared voter 9 minutes to finish all the questions-- if you're prepared, it's much shorter. :). I'm being a boy scout!
