[ Cordelia's read the letter a thousand times over. She's scanned the network - a bit bored - and knows that this place is the most boring hell dimension she could be sucked into. If there's an opening to be the ruler, count her in, but otherwise, she just really wants to go home. Or not home. Being dead means you can't exactly return home. So, is ( Read more... )

Why do you think this is an afterlife, Oneesan?

I only know that Freya's the sister of Freyr, sorry! But I hear there's a library here.

Well, I'm not exactly a resident of the land of the living anymore. [ Saying "I'm dead" is just too much at the moment. She knows she's dead. Saying it and knowing it are two different things. It makes it more real.

So, a change in pace to distract herself and her fellow video-ee is in need. ] Have you been to this library?

[Luckily for Cordelia, Conan's met someone of the same opinion -- and with a lovely scar to prove it -- so he's not in the mood to question that statement.]

Ah.

Not yet! I think it's in the Odin district -- I haven't explored there at all yet.

How long have you been here?

She's actually incredibly boring in the grand scheme of things. [ says the girl who is in loki's house. cordelia, be careful about listening to her. ] And profound is slightly relative, for the record.

[ and pleasantville was a horrible movie, but what does she look like, humphrey? ]

And have you met this incredibly boring god? [ It sounds like Cordelia doesn't quite believe her. Because she doesn't. But asking this question leads to more answers that she kind of needs to know. Wesley should be bloody proud. ]

[ wise choice, cordelia. very wise choice. ] No, because I have the pleasure of being among those who have met Loki. I'd say he's charming, but that idea goes out the window when you consider the circumstances.

Then this place probably isn't a literal afterlife. But for me? It's kind of an afterlife.

Dimensions and sense do not mix, in case you didn't know. [ And this one hasn't made her their ruler! Losing points as we speak. ] And good. I was kind of hoping this place wasn't what came after living. It's kind of a downer.

Afterlife... [Have a very small, very pensive girl on your screen.] That's what I thought, too. But I don't think it is.

Are you - [ Cordelia pauses. She doesn't want to just outright ask 'Are you dead?' It's too intrusive. ] - You too, huh?

What makes you think it isn't? Besides all the people who haven't signed on for an afterlife yet.

Yeah. [She appreciates the deflection. It feels a bit kinder to be commiserating.]

Well... that's the main thing. A few people were surprised to hear that I was dead, so... y'know, they probably aren't.

And, well - I had three other friends who died like me, and two of them were nice and one was really mean, so. I guess I just mean... whether this were Heaven-ish or Hell-ish, I'd have at least one of them with me.

There's a library in one of the city's sections. [There's some crinkling of paper as he consults the map again.] It's in Odin's section, if I remember correctly.

Or you could ask Freya yourself. [Merlin's voice goes quiet as he says the name, expression troubled.] The gods have been making visits to their houses, so it shouldn't be difficult to find her.

[ She catches the expression, thinking that walking up to Freya and asking 'what's up?' isn't as easily said as done. ] Have you spoken to one of these gods? Are they helpful at all? Because me and Higher Powers don't really have a good track record. [ Being hijacked and having her life force drained by one wasn't exactly a highlight of last year. ]

Not the one you're looking for. Sigyn's as kind as they come, but she wouldn't tell me anything about our purpose here. [He shakes his head.] I have a feeling you'd get the same result from the others.

So they're useless. I'm glad there's consistency between this world and mine.

Do you know what Sigyn's about?
