I feel more pity for the soldiers that committed those abuses than hate or disgust. Like your link shows, we KNOW what happens when you put untrained people into the role of prison guard, and the fact that they were apparently ordered to do this by the Military Intelligence guys running their cellblock just makes it more apparent that there has been a gross dereliction of duty all the way up both the MP command chain and the MI command chain.
Also, there's no such thing as too much Bush-bashing, he deserves every word of it.
I'm amused how everyone is saying now that Rumsfeld, needs to step down ... like everything before didn't count. I'm thinking the war in-general is a bigger 'opp-sy!' than this. If there wasn't a war they wouldn't be over there to begin with. Also amusing to think also that anyone but liberals will pay attention.
As for the 'prison guards'. I wasn't there... I'm not going to speculate who directed them to do what. They were in crappy situation, but no one took away their free-will. They do deserve to be punished in some fashion, the scape-goat for an international incident, though? I'm not so sure. So I agree and perhaps disagree. Just an opinion, for what it's worth.

Zimbardo was curious how such situations are created. He stopped the experiment ½ way thru. He did get a bit carried away, letting it go on so long, but I've been led to believe he had the best intentions, It makes sense to me. Trying to better understand some people are led to do bad things ... how things can get out of control.
That other site is stupid, made up by tasteless sadistic pricks. We do not live in Nazi Germany. Such exclamations seem premature in my opinion. Though the price of freedom is vigilance(?) (freedom from fascism in this case, not foreign tyranny).
