That pisses me off!
Hasn't it historically been the case that more soldiers, have died of disease during wars than actual fighting anyway?
Perhaps it's not in a John Wayne heroic sort of fashion, but those guys are still dead. Some of them might've even been stupid, but if they hadn't been over their in the first place, they might not be dead. I don't think that's funny.
These guys are part of military, I'm not sure what they signed up for, but generally the idea of military service has been to protect the security of our country (one could argue what it is currently being used for), but until otherwise noted I'd like to believe these are hard-working americans trying to do a hard job.
If there are any stupid soldiers it's the ones that put our ass in the fire, by abusing prisoners, not only that, but taking pictures too, that's stupid.
Not that the Middle-East loved us to begin with, but now Joe-Mohammad-average has another reason to hate us, that can't be useful.
Not to say those soldiers aren't responsible for their actions, but they were supposed to go home, they were/are probably really tired of being over there and stressed about it. Also from what I understand they were given next to no training in how to deal with prisoners. {cough cough} Zimbardo Prison Experiment {cough}.
If there's anyone truly dumb, I'd say look at the architects of our latest little American Adventure. Who seems to be making it up as their going along and can't give me a good/decent reason why we went their in the first place. I don't know about you, but I hear enough Bush-bashing everday already, (makes me wonder what that's covering up?), if you want more of it watch the Daily Show, or any loud obnoxious Celebrity with a microphone.
Though to get back to the point I think it may take a soldier to point out a 'dumb soldier', if that even.
Even so fatigue and stress cause 'accidents' to be more likely. If you were over there for a year, were supposed to come home, and you were tired and didn't know when you going to get to rest you'd probably be more accident prone too.
Some of these guys died because of other's fuck-ups anyway, not 'their' being stupid.
Unless they are juggling hand grenades for the hell of it ... this is stupid and insulting.
