Oh this is no good. I'm terrified of going back into work, I really don't know how I'm going to face it. It's a stupid crappy minimum wage job I don't even like it should not have this kind of power over me. I've felt nervous and nauseous for days now and I should be enjoying my week off. I can't bring myself to take any photos my passion has gone ( Read more... )

woe is me, stress and depression, pull yourself together girl!, work: i hate it, this is me

What, your boss said you'd fail at photography? What qualifies her to have an opinion? Grrr.

Overcast can be good for photography. Rain too. You can get some great moody shots. Have you looked at the autoexposure bracketing? You can use it to get HDR pics from your camera. Great for landscapes.

My Boss said that her criticism/advice of my current employment was only going to help me in the future because you can't take good pictures unless you are happy. Basically the reason she failed me in my yearly review is because I'm not happy enough and this affects all areas of my job.

As for the photo's I know you can get some good shots with bad weather and overcast skys are good it just not the weather to inspire me out the house when I'm not feeling my best. Today I persevered and got a few good shots.

Glad you got some good shots! I know what you mean, though, my heart sinks when I wake up to grey skies and rain instead of bright sunshine.

Well photography is an art form and you certainly don't have to be happy to produce good art. I think happiness is actually not a useful thing to strive for (contendedness is more realistic). I can understand why in a customer service role you might need to act smiley and friendly but it's hardly the same thing. In fact I always assume people I encounter in those roles are just pretending, because I certainly wouldn't feel overjoyed to be in the same situation!

*AMBUSH HUG!*
I have found some amazing e-books on photography that I'd like to share with you. I can upload them somewhere or burn them to a disk and snail-mail them to you if you are interested.

Perhaps I'm not the typical shopper (I flippin' hate it) but if there's one thing that really ticks me off when I'm shopping is overly happy, smiley staff. Don't get me wrong, I'd love for you to be happy in your work but I hate that shops put that above efficiency and the right amount of helpfulness (especially when it's faked). As for lingerie shopping. NO! Do not keep grinning at me because that is just creepy :D Serious, efficient, helpful. That's good ( ... )
