I really can't deal watching anything war-related drama or movie. Not this or Iwo Jima. ;-;

It's a very sensitive subject, and I know not everyone would want to pick it up. (like if there's a movie about the war w/ Iraq or or 9/11, I'd also give a second thought)

But this really was a good drama, less of the war, and more about the after-affects of the war...and guh ;-; Do give it a try!

Okee~! Btw the school principal in the drama said "his son in the battle of Iwo Jima", and I couldn't help but think of Nino LOL

Thank you for the review. I do want to read what other things... as I think the drama went a bit unappreciated around lj... Probably the issue... but it so deserves a try. It's a really touching drama and Sho's perfomance was really good! I am proud of his work there...

Kind of agree with you with the hiding of the arm and all that... if a bomb was what left him like that... some marks on that side of his body would have been reasonable... but you know JE... I am surprised they allowed him to play the part of an one-armed teacher to begin with (you know they HAVE to look pretty all the time... )

Again, thank you for posting your thoughts... Yep, my money goes to the dvd too ;)

I also think that it was kinda brushed aside on LJ... Even within the fandom alone, quite a few expressed little interest because it's so serious. With so much buzz going on with regards to upcoming Arashi activities, maybe this was simply looked at as "another Sho work" of the many activities he's had since last August.

But I can say with confidence this was Sho's acting at best, and overall so well produced ♥ Blackboard left such a great impression in my mind. Even if this may sound biased, I'd even argue this is a role only Sho could've pulled off, cuz he really genuinely love teaching kids, he is mature enough, and yet he carries that delicate balance of strength and fragility so well.

(you know they HAVE to look pretty all the time... )HAHA that is so true. Fans do so love eye-candies after all. I still remember how his hair was such a buzz, but I got so used to the look that nothing felt out of place by the time I watched. I'm glad Sho was given the opportunity to widen his breath of work and proved his abilities ( ... )

I hope CDJ and YA have it soon... but the release date is September?! that is too long *pout* but well time flies anyway ;)

It seems Amazon keeps the same offer this other site has: http://shop.tsutaya.co.jp/dvd/news/details.html?ko=peadbl12&news_id=3874

I wonder if at least CDJ keeps an offer like that... so I don't end poor as a rat... ;)

Agree with you that this part was so amazing because Sho made it real. And yes, this was probably his best acting, although that SP he made where he was a student was pretty good too (he is good in dramatic roles!) I still love Kageyama too, but if I had to choose just one of his acting roles, just one, probably would be this one in Blackboard.

He invested too much in it, for the drama to go unnoticed, I think. It really deserves more attention... Now I hope he is eating big big steaks and ramen bowls... because the poor thing needed them ;)

Hmm I don't know about CDJ. Even with Nazodi DVD Box, CDJ only offered 10% off at most, whereas Amazon offered 27%. In this case, I feel like Amazon might be a better deal since they have a flat EMS rate (and the cost's equivalent to CDJ's Airmail more or less). Given the price, I'm even contemplating to post out if anyone else is planning to buy and if combining items can somehow save a little on cost. But it's a premature thought since there's still 5 months in the waiting ^^;

Grr, I've already decided to buy Nazodi SP dvd too...hoho, wallet cries. Kageyama is a fun character and fun role, though probably it didn't challenge Sho much as an actor. But comedy obviously doesn't carry the same weight as realism. I also agree if I had to nominate a role of his, it'd be Shouhei.

I'm glad he looked a little fleshier during the Blackboard promos ♥

HELLO!!

RLY?! Wow, that's totally awesome! ♥ I suppose it isn't hard to distinguish out with all the undying Sho love everywhere on the journal XD よろしく! So happy more Blackboard lovers!! Thank you again for translating that 2-hr monster 8D

:D

I dunno! Honestly though I never checked your journal. I would only see your username but not click through. But when we interacted there I was like asdfjkl; IDK I feel this is asaphira_sachi BUT WHAT THE HELL WHY DID THAT SPECIFIC USERNAME POP OUT?

...yes my psychic powers are creeping me out now D:

anyway! asdfgjkl; MY WORDS. YES IT WAS A 2HR MONSTER. D8 1300 LINES! JUST. asfdkl; But ohgooood so worth it, so worth it. So worth doing it for Sho because it is his best.

I also kind of realized a few hours after posting subs that it was the first major contribution I made to the fandom for him. I never really did translate anything for the Arashi fandom, my first JE fandom, but I already worked as a spot translator for JUMP-in Fansubs, a HSJ fansub team.

Guess it was an unconscious guilty feeling that prompted me to translate without second thoughts... That I haven't done anything for Sho yet he was the one I loved the longest. D:

No regrets. ♥

Wow that's some SUPER SIXTH-SENSE. Thank you!! But shoot, that means I'm failing as a troll.

I AGREE! It really was Sho at his best. For previous dramas, it's always been "WHEE IT'S SHO AS " and of course it's hard not to be critical of his acting (that's a whole other topic on its own). But for Blackboard, There's this delicate line between him and Shohei.

I just totally felt that rather than "acting" as Shohei, he really "became" Shohei as if he's really living the era. I thought, if Sho was born in that era, he really would be someone like Shohei. After watching it, actually it was so surreal to switch back to the Arashi him.

It's a wonderful contributions :DDD! ♥ Thank you~ The most I've done is just magazine translations, haha... And so weird arashi_on didn't approve D: Usually they'd send a message why it wasn't approve?

Hi, this is me being a creeper and randomly leaving random people massages :D sorry about this..but I'm in the Yama pair community and I was just randomly clicking on people's Lj and ended up here. But that aside.. but I must tell you that I LOVE this drama too. LOVE.LOVE.

I watched it, then went to do my chores like ironing and stuff and suddenly I just cried while ironing because I got this drama stuck in my head. I-I..CRIED. WHILE IRONING.

With all that said, I love it. And I'm so glad to stumble over an entry like this, because this drama just deserve all the love, it really does.

OMG sorry I didn't reply earlier! LJ notification wankers lol.

CRYING WHILE IRONING. That is awesome. The feelings and the sentiments just stay with you so much, right? Gosh ME TOO! I had the drama stuck in my head for practically weeks, and even now (given all the lovely Sho forehead glory) I'm constantly seeing a shadow of Shohei while looking at Sho. Same person, yet completely different. He was just really one of those characters that you want to, with all your might, tell him everything's gonna be alright... Sho really did a tremendous, memorable job on the role as Shohei.

Thank you sooo much for sharing your thoughts with me! I'm really glad to hear from others (and Yama fan at that! :'D) who enjoyed it, cuz it was definitely more than "just another Sho drama"..
