ew, dubs. There are only a handful of good dubs, and most of them are for anime, I think. Or they're Viet dubs of Chinese films, since the languages are monosyllabic so the words match up better. I don't understand the stigma around subtitles, I really don't.
The dub for the movie was even WORSE than anime dubs, and that's saying something. They sounded so much as if they were reading off a script. I'm guessing the English language is just not versatile for "emotions". If you think about it, anyone trying to speak English, their tones automatically go lower when speaking the language. Any fluctuation just sounds exaggerated or simply awkward. >_>;
errgghh. Like, Godzilla bad? And wow, I never noticed that about English before, but I guess my voice is a lot lower when I speak in it. I guess it's not a language that shows emotion by really distinct fluctuations.
Baccano! was a pretty fantastic dub though, no lie.
