So traveling with kyraensui, hellmaster05, and mikage, we arrived at Hollywood yesterday. As the trip was last minute, we were a little ill-prepared and had to find our way to the motel... lol Last night, we made sure we had enough sleep to see Nino.

Picture of the theatre GANTZ is premiered in :D

Random shot behind the theatre.

Yummy mango ice shake we shared.

Fans waiting in front of the door. Notice so many are Arashi fans LOL

8D!! Before the movie started~~ WAHHIIIII~

Did I mention they showed some previous Japanese movies that were licensed in English? Such as Kamikaze Girls, Death Note, etc.... and when Honey and Clover came in.... WAHHHHH 8D The audience went wild for Sho-chan!! I know *I* did. LOL

Here's a report what happened in the GANTZ Premiere. OMG NINO. AND MATSUKEN. Unfortunately any type of recording from audience was not allowed, so I don't have any personal pictures of Nino to show. MEANWHILE, enjoy...

1) Nino spoke in English: "Hi, I'm Ninomiya Kazunari. Thank you for coming here. This is a great film. Hope you will all enjoy it."

2) How do you feel to be in Hollywood?

Nino: Since there aren't many chances to come overseas to represent the movie, it's an honor to be here.

3) Since GANTZ is premiered around this time, do you think it's possible for GANTZ to be nominated for Oscar/Academy Award? If it does, how would you feel?
MatsuKen: If if would even BE nominated, it would be a great honor.
Nino: I would be really lucky to even get nominated.

4) What was your favorite / the most memorable scene?

Nino: *contemplates for a long time* Hmmm... I think I enjoyed all the action scenes. After the shooting and rewatching the scenes, I had the feeling of, "Oh, I actually look AWESOME doing it!"

MatsuKen: There were many back stories behind the movie, such as how the child alien was killed by a teacher, even when teachers are supposed to teach kids.

5) Were there any interesting stories during the shooting of the movie?

Nino: There were not any things that happened, but during the shooting of the daibutsu alien scene, it was his (MatsuKen) birthday, and we were watching it as MatsuKen's face "got older". It was the first birthday cake I made *laughs*

Matsu: There weren't any particular stories either, but although the suits were really well made, the suits were really thin, and the weather of Kobe during the shooting was really cold, so.....*audience laugh*

6) How did it feel to watch the movie with someone else's voices over your faces?

Nino: It was really mysterious, but although I don't understand what was being said, I think the performance (of the dub) was done well enough so that I can feel the emotions coming through. He was just being polite, toward the end, he expressed interest in having the audience hear their original voices instead.

7) (Hypo. question) If you were to do a mission on GANTZ, how many points do you think you would get? Do you think you'll survive?

Nino: I think I would die. I have a pattern of getting roles in which all the characters seem to die. If I were in a mission, I think I would do this...*hides behind MatsuKen and peeks out 8D*

MatsuKen: I want to get 100 points, but I think I would also die, so I would... *hides behind interpreter*

8) Can you promise to come back?

MatsuKen & Nino: I don't know... let's ask the person who can give an answer *PULLS PRODUCER UP*

Producer came up and pretty much said if there would be enough people to watch Part II, we would come back. We promise to come back if you (audience) promise to watch Part II when it premieres.

Somewhere around here Nino mentioned that he would like us to hear their original voices intead for Part II.

9) It seems like MatsuKen and Ninomiya's English is getting much better. Would you be interested in dubbing the Part II in English with your own voices?

Nino: I'm considering it; I would love to if I can.

MatsuKen: I think I'd stick with Japanese, simply because it's hard enough to speak the English language. I don't know if I can convey the emotions through in English.

Movie Review:

The dubbing was bland and horrible. Even the Nino said himself he would like the audience to hear the original because they put a lot of passion and hard-work into the movie. DO YOU HEAR THIS, VIZ PICTURES?! NEXT TIME, do it right. It'd prolly cost you much less to have subtitles than hire dubbers anyways.

BUT. Aside from that, I think overall the effects and story pacing was pretty well-done. It's bloody and dark, yet they manage some minor humor in the script. Very Japanese movie. MatsuKen also mentioned that it's great for this kind of movie to be aired overseas so that the world can see that Japan can make hi-quality sci-fi movies rather than just "stereotypical Japanese" (i.e. Last Samurai, Memoirs of Geisha) movies.

Will edit later when I get back and remember more...
