So great to read this in its finished form.

I don't think I told you before, but the part where Sam forces the issue--

"Don't worry," Sam whispers furiously. "I'm not going to embarrass you. Not going to puke up my guts for the world to see. I know you don't show your dysfunctions to strangers. But that doesn't mean you don't have them."

"Sam!"

"Do you have them, Dean?"

"Yes, I have them!" Dean hisses. "All right? I have them. Can we go now?"

--and the confrontation outside that follows is my very favorite part of this story. It's one of the best, most in-character acknowledgments of more-than-brotherly love I've ever read. I love that Dean calls his attraction to his brother a dysfunction, and I love the way they confront it without actually saying it. The way it escalates outside on the sidewalk reads absolutely true to me, and gives me goosebumps.

At long last I've finally had enough sleep to reply coherently to comments. Gawd, this week at work has been a writeoff.

I'm so glad you got to read this again, once I'd smoothed out all the kinks. It was the same with my beta, I wanted to clap hands at the end and say, "Look! I finally fixed all those niggles!" A couple really did come to me right at the last second, and added insult to injury by suddenly seeming completely obvious.

Along the way somewhere, I really fell hard for !Sam and !Dean and their story, and it became a bit of a battle not to be self indulgent and to get back to the "real" plot. I'm glad you identify and enjoy this scene in particular, because for me it was the real heart of the whole thing, this and the bit later where Dean makes his peace with being the big brother. Much as I love cracky happy stories -- and I enjoy a scorching pwp as much as the next fangirl -- I do have trouble with easy!incest fics. It should be a battle, especially for Dean. Your comments here mean a lot to me.

Ooo, the plots are thickening. I've been suspecting Anna from the start, wondering if she was in love with her boss. Especially since scissors are such a woman's weapon - at least back then. That was a nice touch by the way. You surprised me at the end - I wasn't sure how you were going to get our Sam and Dean together, but I didn't realize it already kind of existed. Mmmmm, I'm looking forward to the first time as well.
