hereI love cocktail parties. My mother thinks it is madness that useful and commonplace things like frying pans live in the garage so that my full selection of cocktail glasses can live in the kitchen. Priorities, Mum

Oh, what fun! This takes me back.
There aren't many references to cocktails in Pros - they seem to stick to beer, pure malt scotch (with nothing added) or the occasional slurp of champagne or white wine (Arawatah Reisling *g*). The high class call girl in 'the Untouchables' asks Doyle for "a very Bloody Mary", and at one point in 'Blood Sports' they order a couple of luridly coloured drinks (green for Doyle, pink for Bodie) but they abandon them in favour of hamburgers, beer & the box ... oh, wait, that reminds me... in "Fugitive' the arms dealer says he'll have a pink gin#, and Bodie asks for "a small Cuba Libre").
#thereby identifying himself as either an ex RN-man or a man who likes RN men...
My God, we could have such a drinks party!

Another one (I think it's the last) - 'Backtrack' - Marge's Lightning (her own recipe). "Gin, rum, and green chartreuse. Very sexy."
Personally, I think it sounds revolting. But I remember that chartreuse, green or yellow, was very popular amongst amateur cocktail makers back in the 70's. Might be a good research project

Another themed binge I once went on was a pub crawl election night the first year we had MMP in NZ. And all the drinks were colour coded and themed for the parties. The ones that involved chartreuse ended very badly.
70s liqueurs were bad though, weren't they? I actually can't stand Harvey Wallbangers because of the Galliano. Tastes like dish liquid to me. Ruins a perfectly good Screwdriver, methinks.
