Yes. Yesyesyes!!! And what you describe is exactly one of the reasons we keep going with organising cons. Give everyone a possibility to sing, to grow, with or without stage time, according to their wishes ... and it makes *me* burst with pride, too, when I see "our" younglings or former neos become more confident, or in some cases amazingly good, omgwow :) And then, eventually, they end up Interfilk guests or guests of honour at a con ...!
Yeah. I feel like the German filk mum recently ;-) I realized (with a little bit of shock) that I have been active in filk fandom almost as many years as our youngest member is *years old* (that would be Trudy, she's 17, right? *g*) ... I started filking in 1989 ... go figure.
