Little ado about something

I haven't been posting very often lately, partially because I'm afraid they'd all turn into whines (waaa! my butt hurts. waaa! my belly hurts. waaa! my son is driving me insane!), but I think mostly because my computer time has been absorbed by these three things:
  1. Sleep - it's not always happening at night when it's supposed to, so more ( Read more... )

AHA! You may have given me a distraction with LOTR until I can get my obsessed hands on a Nintendo Wii.

Hard to believe I'm only 6 weeks behind you. Stuff is going well for me, and we went on a tour of our hospital's birth suites this weekend. I also start my prenatal yoga tonight. I forgot, do you know if it's a boy or girl? Ours is a boy.

Hospital tours are good. We have one tomorrow night. Even though it's the same place as last time I think it will be good to go see it again and be reminded of...everything. Ok, maybe I don't need a reminder about everything, but it will help to drive the point home that this baby's arrival isn't that far away now ( ... )

Good tips. What I was surprised about with the circumcision is that they do it the next day. I guess I was caught up in the whole *religious* tradition being 8 days, but equating that to a medical need. Nice to know you can have it done there.

I'm taking a class offered by my health clinic. They have all sorts of classes, from prenatal breast care to birth prep, to I don't even know what else: http://www.deancare.com/dhs/educational_programs/hw_pregnancybeyond.asp.
The yoga class is 5 weeks starting tonight.

The tour helped to familiarize us with where to go / when, and assured me that everything at this hospital is so family-friendly, systematized, and safe, that I actually will be okay. They do about 300 births a month.

If you're planning on breastfeeding, I'd recommend taking a breastfeeding class. I didn't but wish that I had - just to help with my confidence the first couple weeks. Though we did go see the lactation consultant during Quinn's first week, which was reassuring ( ... )

We just slathered vaseline in the diaper so that it wouldn't stick (ouch) and it healed really well. They didn't have us do any dressing at all. (There's so many different ways they do circumcisions). It's funny, I didn't examine the boy parts either, but we did end up capturing them on film...=) And my OB used a lidocaine nerve block when doing the circ (along with sweet-ease) so the only thing he was upset about was being naked and restrained. He fell asleep right afterwards (my friend Anne, who's voice he recognized) was there and he fell asleep in her arms ( ... )
