Yesterday I had a breakthrough. Finally! After about 5 weeks of NO sewing or quilting, I worked on the Carpenter's Star! I know that doesn't seem like much, but I've spent a lot of time writing about my block against that project, and my pattern of not letting myself do things I really enjoy ( Read more... )

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your Carpenter's Star! It looks amazing, and those colors are drool-worthy, in my book. :D

...and you could have used "quilt" one more time for sure in that last sentence. "And while I was QUILTing, Bear..." :D

I need to get my rear upstairs and do some quilting myself. I haven't done anything since we moved, in part because there's no fan up there and it's HOT in that room, especially with the iron on!

Oh dear, you need a fan, definitely. Is there a window? I'd never go up there if it was hot.

You're right, I could have added quilting where sewing was! It is tempting...

I love the colors too, especially how the batiks look close up.

The colours are mouthwatering. I love especially the green and yellow together, and the new border is so rich added to the rest. I love it.

HattieCattie jumps up on the sewingmachine table, and has her own spot behind it. A compromise between her getting annoyed with me for moving things around her and ... er... yeah, maybe not a compromise, maybe she just trained me!

I remember one time mum came over to get me to measure the hems on some trousers she was making. Out came the tape measure and pins, and the next thing we knew, HattieCattie was in her spot on the sewing table, looking at me expectantly :-)

That's so funny! Phoebe is like that whenever I sit down at the sewing table. She and Alice fight over who gets to sleep in my sewing chair, as they know I'll sit there eventually and they both like being there when I'm sewing! (not in the chair, but on the table!LOL)

Hmmm not sure to what you are referring here, Jeff... Bear does quilting, I do piecing. This Carpenter's Star is one *I've* made so far. Bear hasn't started quilting the sandwich yet! However, the NEXT post, that's all his. Either way, I'm sure he'll be happy for the compliment! LOL
