Another Dreary Day in the Neighborhood

I agree with boosterbaby that it feels more like mid-March, weatherwise. It is blustery, chilly though warmer than it seems (it's 63 degrees right now). I think it is affecting my mood today. Or something is. I feel rather depressed today and weepy, though I haven't actually cried. But I could. Sigh ( Read more... )

Thanks. I do take those lactobacillus pills (kept in fridge) when we remember them. I *never* do but sometimes Bear does. I like to eat yogurt, even plain, so that's not a hard thing for me to do. i need to eat the ones we already have!

I read in the article that "anonymous" left that some pain meds can slow digestion and I take hydrocodone (known here as lortab or vicodin) and that may be a problem. I don't know.

You might want to see if you can switch to Tramadol/Ultram. It is supposedly non-addictive and fairly effective, as effective as Vicodin or straight codeine was anyway. I am on time-release and regular tablets so taking quite a bit but the usual dose is one time-release tablet a day. Obviously you might have to adjust that depending on your pain levels and response to it.

Do you use any 'alternate' pain remedies like a TENS machine? I found it is great for the nerve pain I have since it blocks the pain nerves and after a few uses the nerves will go quiet for a few days.

The doctor may recommend that you avoid high-fat and high-fiber foods. Fat naturally slows digestion-a problem you do not need if you have gastroparesis-and fiber is difficult to digest. Some high-fiber foods like oranges and broccoli contain material that cannot be digested. Avoid these foods because the indigestible part will remain in the stomach too long and possibly form bezoars.

I hope your stomach feels better soon dear. I do know also that it's okay to have an 'off' day now and then--we're all human.

Navel oranges are my absolute favorite!

I can only really enjoy water at room temperature. =)

That's funny about our water differences. I love your icon, always makes me crave oranges. But it isn't good news about what the NIH article said (anonymous post) about eating oranges. i'm sad!

Thankfully the wind died down here. It was sunny and mild today, but clouds and sprinkles have moved in. :( Bummer.
