I have a friend who lives in England, and was very touched by her entry today in her journal, about watching the Inauguration. Remember, she is in ENGLAND.

Wow. I'm stunned.

I go to see about twenty minutes today - the actual oaths, as well as the music leading up to it (OMG LOVED the John Williams piece!) and most of the speech afterwards. We had a huge crowd gathered at work - all races, ages, cultures, creeds - and everyone cheered when he finished the oath. There were tears left and right. It was pretty neat.

I was also impressed by how quickly the 2 million+ folks in Washington quieted down - and HOW quiet they became. You could have heard a pin drop. THAT's impressive, you know?

Thank you for these! I love the coffeebear and mountain bear! I'm not sure what the Appalachian Splendor is... She does great work!

From my vantage point, there is also much of that feeling elsewhere in the world, hope on so many levels. The feeling is immense here in Europe. In my 30 some odd years here I have never seen anything quite like this.

This is beautiful!

Yes, it is amazing. What a new sense of hope has permeated the world. I'm 51 and have never seen anything like it either.
