A loss

 For those of us who were never good at sports
Or talking to girls
Or listening to the most popular music
Or knowing what to wear

He showed us a way to interact.
And taught us what it means to stand with your friends.
Even though most other people didn't understand.

I never met the guy
But one way or another I owe him many of my closest friendships.

Dude, that's totally insensitive. He clearly didn't have to make a saving throw as he died of natural causes. He rolled poorly on the human maximum age table.

This also means he can't be raised or resurrected, even with a Wish or Alter Reality spell. However he can attain a form of immortality through his children.

Insensitive, I beg to differ; I am using House Rules, and I clearly am honoring Mr. Gygax in my own way! To each his own, I suppose.

He lives on in every home brew adventure, every funny looking die that is cast by a pimply, socially inept goofball.

Cest la vie, may WOTC not totally screw up 3.0.
