Nevertheless, I think I am something of a "hermit" at heart.
I am the same way. I like my solitude unless I deliberately go out with people.
I enjoy talking to people at Whole Foods about food and small talk, and I enjoy spending time with people of like mind; but I like what's inside my head.
I also like to sing really loud when I am by myself :)
As far as shifting for a relationship, it's good to be multidimensional, and it is a nice idea that someone can bring out a side of you that you have no explored yet; but sifting does not necessarily mean change who you are or compromise your values.

If you ever have to do this, it's not worth it.
