Man, I haven't read dS fic in a long time and I don't know what made me click on this one in particular, but I'm so glad I did. This was lovely and beautiful written with a solid Fraser voice and an amazingly believable build up. Truly a beautiful story, thank you so much.

Geez. I've read this through twice and I still don't think I can do it justice.

So lovely. The angst is made terribly painful through being delivered in Fraser's extremely controlled, extremly I-will-not-PERMIT-myself-to-be-overwrought voice. It took a while for what had probably happened to sink in, but when it did--ouch.

Beautiful and sad and hopeful, and makes me love Ray even more for his gentle but spiky persistence.

This is beautiful - utterly stunning. The layers you've created for Fraser and all the reasons why he can't shed them are heartbreaking. And your Ray is so pragmatic, no fuss, no mess. I love it. Bravo! *applauds*

Forgive you? You've gotta be kidding. I adore you for this story! Gorgeous writing, so atmospheric, which is one of my favorite, favorite things. Introspective and quietly devastating, and so satisfying. It's just beautiful.

And I love it that Fraser will go back to Chicago with Ray, because he would, and despite all the wonderful cabin fic out there, I think it's where he belongs. He's just not as interesting patrolling the North, like Bob, as he is in Chicago, a fish out of water, partnered with Ray, who's a fish out of water, too, no matter where he is.

The history with Steve makes total sense (and I even felt for Steve a bit), and Fraser's statement that he isn't often attracted to people that way does, also. He and Ray are both too intense to support many shallow relationships. I get that about them. I love this inexperienced, awkward Fraser and this gentle Ray. They read very, very true to the canon characters, and I'm not saying that alternative interpretations don't, just that these are facets of the canon characters as ( ... )

>I even felt for Steve a bit<

Me, too. I think Ben learned young to hide his feelings and his fears, so you have to cut the guy a little slack.

I'm glad if the characterizations worked. What you said about casting facets into relief is a brilliant way to look at this kind of experiment.

Thank you for your note. You are so kind to me.

Feel better soon!
