I thought that non-public establishments could pretty much tell you to do whatever the hell they want, with the option to eject you if you don't do as they say. I'm sure you're more than welcome to put a complaint in the Suggestion Box, but getting in their face about it doesn't seem like the way to get things done.
Normally at conventions in a hotel the hotel staff are supposed to contact con operations staff if there is a problem with a con attendee. Then the con operations staff deals with it.
I highly doubt that Arlon was drunk in public. And even if someone is drunk in public in "convention spaces" whatever the fuck that defines, they're supposed to be asked to go back to their room as stated in the code of conduct.
The hotel person who accosted Arlon went over the line, and the Midwest Furfest staff don't have the fucking balls to do anything about it. They're probably just as fucked up with internal politics like FC is. If you're not in their clique, you're a pile of fetid garbage that doesn't deserve the time of day.
Then why bother even fucking commenting? Giving booze or pot to someone underage is one thing, Kick them out for that. For getting into an argument with some pissant hotel flunky that was too full of himself and didn't follow the best customer-friendly path in his job, MFF should've had the balls to work on behalf of the attendee and deal with the hotel over such a tiny infraction.
The holy hell? Okay, that blows alot. With the standard disclaimer that I wasn't there so I really can't form a solid opinion of this particular situation, that's pretty fucked up.
I had no idea that MFF was a "dry con." Now I do. Guess I'm never going 'cause guess what? I like to drink with my friends when I'm at conventions which means I'm often quite drunk. Yeah, its their party and their rules but with that rule and that kind of enforcement I gotta say, fuck 'em in the ear. Fuck 'em in the ear with a pipe wrench.
I find convention hotels without bars in their lobbies to be kind of a downer, its the feature of the Double Tree I will miss the most.
Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with those teatoaling pansy asses? Is it that they're trying to indemnify themselves against suit or complying with the demands of the hotel? In either case, ejecting you like that was a complete bitch move and you do deserve an apology.
That's really not okay. You complied and got rid of the alcohol but because you challenged them, they tossed ya.
Thats nothing short of enraging, I really dont even know what to say man. It really sucks that things seem to be becoming less confrontational and more "my dick is bigger than yours so I dont have to deal with you." I mean its an obvious issue for both parties, Im amazed the resolve was to eject you so fast. Especially if a policy request was made- I could be wrong here but were your rights somehow violated in this? A customer can review the return policy on request if they are not satisfied. How is this different?

I had imagined going to MFF once to give it a chance. But now I will NEVER go to that con.

Im up at 4am at an airport waiting to fly to chicago and see you... and the con booted you for drinking?
The entire staff is a list of people who drink nightly at cons o.o why on earth did they boot people from across the US?
That's utter bullshit, dry con or not. That's certainly not a good sign for the weekend :(
