Finally - Internet!

We officially had the DSL working Tuesday afternoon, but had to wait on our computer tech company to come by to reprogram the firewall and convince it the new modem wasn't an intruder.  Boss was about ready to chuck the firewall, but I talked her down because it is important to have.

I've got to call around and find office planners for the office ( Read more... )

That's nice that they'll let you bring your baby for a little while to let you catch up. I might do that if you're worried about anyone messing up the books.

About the cigar smoking in-law's- can they just come to your house to visit r do you have to travel?

Ugh, my SIL put a VCR player in my niece's room to keep her in there, and he's up all night watching TV while the parents sleep.

Thankfully the indoor smoking in-laws are locals, so they can drop by as needed. FIL and his wife aren't heavy smokers even with the cigars (they could probably refrain from smoking during a visit), but the stepbro and his g/f always have the room all smoky.

We figure we got lucky when the boys were little and *everyone* around them smoked except me (hubby quit 4-5 years ago) and neither boy had respiratory issues. No sense tempting fate again, yanno?

Our boys are 10 and 12 and just now got a *radio* in their room. They still don't have a TV, although we thought about getting a small one for them for Xmas, and the computer they use is in another room where we can limit their time on it. We're just not into electronic babysitters, which probably explains why the boys own about 350 books of their own and beg to go to the library all the time for more.

Ok I'm a bad mom both boys have tvs in their rooms along with dvd plyers and vcrs. Kicker is they are very limited on it and tend to watch educational stuff such as TLC Discovery and such. They tend to only get to watch on weekends too. So maybe not such a bad mom...lol
A little trick you might want to try with washing smokey clothes is a cup of plain vinegar along with the soap. You would be surprised what smells I have gotten out of clothes using that method.
I'm proud of my hubby,he didnt quit smoking but the day he found out I was pregnant with our first son he started smoking outside no matter the weather. I do wish he would quit but that is for him todecide when he is ready.

Depends on the kids' personalities re: tvs, I think. Some kids would watch 24/7 if allowed in their room, others could care less unless a favorite program is on. Since stepbro's kids are screaming lil monsters (except for one, whose mother is likely responsible for her good behavior), I can't help but think the TV stuff contributes, yanno?

Thanks for the vinegar tip. All the other smokers are outdoor smokers, so stuff coming from them won't be so bad. Quitting's tough and something that just has to click for that smoker. I'm still glad Bear quit... think it's been nearly 5 years now. I think part of his was the $3 a pack price mark it broke back then. ;-)

Oh I agree those that watch 24/7 arent doing themselves any good. I also know some holy terrors that dont get that much tv either so I can see it go both ways. But you do see more that are holy terrors that are tv addicts..lol
I have to admit Dh did quit for a whole year but then problems came about from the move to Utah and a high risk pregnancy that lead to him smoking again.
You would think the prices going up would slow him down too but alas it hasnt...doesnt help he can get them tax free on base. Oh well he will quit when he is ready I guess.
