Aw, I feel bad for both of them. Carter's so alone beyond her dad it's heart breaking and she clearly can't bring herself to let Rosie in. And Rosie's even more alone. They both really only have Major Mason. Until they figure their shit out and realize they have each other too anway.

I loved this chapter. It showed both girls vulnerabilities perfectly. It's stuff like this that reminds me why Carter and Rosie are so thoroughly the best fictional D/S pairing.

I do really want to highlight the Importance of Mason in this fic, because I feel he's central to who Alex is. And overall he's just a real cool guy.

I'm glad you chose to have Carter's mom leave them and not die, because it adds a bitter tone to the seemingly 'functional' father and daughter unit.
