Mystery Dog Injuries

I got home this afternoon and Zeena, my beagle, had a huge (the size of my fist) chunk of flesh taken out of her back and some puncture wounds on her hiney area. I had to rush her to the vet at the last minute (I called just before they closed) to get her some antibiotics, pain medication, and see if she needs surgery. I will know tomorrow

Yikes! I hope the injury isn't serious enough to need surgery. Poor puppy. :(

thank you :(. I'm not too worried. I've been through lots of dog disasters. But that wound on her back was pretty nasty and she had puncture wounds on her haunches too. Very weird. I'm starting to worry that Opal is a violent hound.

Ack, so sorry to hear that Esby! That back wound does sound like it could be quite nasty.

Have you found anything else to indicate that it might or might not have been Opal? That's definitely something that no pet owner wants to think ;(

I suspect they got out of the fence and had a run-in with a neighbhorhood dog that was running around. Zeena can be aggressive in some situations with strange dogs. I also think that probably someone put them back in the fence after the fight because I'm not sure she could have walked home like that on her own. She was pretty beat up. But I'll never know. My parents are coming down to help me build a new fence this weekend, which should solve the problem.
