And he's adorable and very well behaved to be only 8 weeks old. I'll explain the story of why I have a new dog in friends-only post. He is probably about the size of Opal's snout. To everyone for their kind words. I'm still pretty upset. I woke up this morning crying after having pretty bad dreams all night. I know in my heart it was the right thing to do, it's just a lot harder than I expected. Now it's just Opal and me -- and we have to adjust to the house which is much more empty. ( A little recount of Vinny's last moments for my own records )

Vinny is in fact blind, and has a rather bad cause of glaucoma. It's not so bad that he might not develop the ability to see if the swelling in his eyes goes down, but it also doesn't mean he will be able to see. The vet gave me two different eyedrops and some anti-inflammatories to use with him and that seems to be really helping with the swelling ( Read more... )

I believe that Mr. Vinny, my longsuffering cocker spaniel, has gone completely blind. I've been having to carry him out to do his business for the past week. It's like it just developed over night. His one cataract seems the same, but the other eye suddenly became swollen and full of puss and such. I cleaned it with saline, put eye drops in, and ( Read more... )

I got home this afternoon and Zeena, my beagle, had a huge (the size of my fist) chunk of flesh taken out of her back and some puncture wounds on her hiney area. I had to rush her to the vet at the last minute (I called just before they closed) to get her some antibiotics, pain medication, and see if she needs surgery. I will know tomorrow ( Read more... )
