It’s a little unclear to me when this happened, but I just don’t feel like an American. It’s not that I’m embarrassed, ashamed, or have that ‘unfresh’ feeling. I just have no idea what being American is anymore. I was born here, I was raised here…and is that it then? Is that all that is required? Certainly there must be more…no?

People want understanding, right? Most don't want it handed to them, so perhaps people actually want complex understanding. Insights they have to strive for. It's a mis-guided notion. You meet someone, you like that person; knowledge is passed back and forth and through it all, they seem to exceed you in a certain way. Pretty words that dance ever so gently around the matter at hand. Let us say their number is larger than your number...which is a minor understatement.
