Glen and I have gone all the way from season 1, to season 7 in The X-Files; and we're skipping no episodes. Even the ones we reaaaally want to skip. It's been pretty epic so far. I remember not liking season 6->9 very much, but six was very satisfying and I'm enjoying 7 so far.
'Her name is Bambi?' Is one of the greatest lines. And Scully in the town of crazy. And her suggesting random things and asking Mulder if he needs her and he's always like 'no, you're probably right, it'll be fine.' *grin*
And did Mulder always sound like such a sanctimonious, know-it-all dickhead?
He gets better! And then he gets bad again. And then he gets all 'I don't believe, it's bullshit!' which is so tired, and then he gets all fanatical about it again.
Oh, I know he gets better, then he gets worse, then he disappears, then comes back. He was never the reason I watched that show, even tho' it was basically about him. *shrugs* But it was fun to do this mini-marathon [I watched about 1/2 of the marathon on Skiffy], particularly because I got my #1 fave ep out of it.
And did Mulder always sound like such a sanctimonious, know-it-all dickhead? To one extent or another - yes! Which is why he never fairs well in my X-Files fics - long or short. I freely admit though my dislike for Mulder has grown over the years so I'm not exactly sure when he got so irritating. I do know that, for me, the show jumped the shark when they had Scully sleep with the git, got her pregnant, and then Mulder was abducted. They should have just completely written him out of the show at the point and moved on with Scully, Reyes and Doggett.
I think I like what shatterpath and I did with Mulder, Scully, and Reyes in LWM, as we kept the characters relatively in character without having to deal with Mulder's "wild goose chases" so prominently.
