Muzzy, bleary day. I slept too late, got up and puttered, finally went out to check my P.O. box (nothing but the new issue of Poetry -- I swear I get a new issue every three days or so -- I can't keep up) and get some lunch at the Village Deli, then went to Evil Corporate Coffee HQ and had a white chocolate mocha and wrote in my journal & read for ( Read more... )

Now I'm home, having watched a movie ("A Home at the End of the World," based on the novel by Michael Cunningham)

How was it? I was disappointed in The Hours, but I don't know that any screen adaptation could do real justice to Cunningham's prose. It's like trying to make a movie version of an elaborate painting.

It was OK. It missed some stuff, but the novel isn't nearly as complex as "The Hours" in the first place, so its flaws were kind of the run-of-the-mill movie-adaptation flaws. There were places where I might have gotten confused about the narrative if I hadn't read the book (then again, maybe I wouldn't have, who know), but the relationships between the character felt pretty believable, and that's what the book was primarily about anyway.

What I saw was the LogoTV version, which had some "edited for content" bits (I suspect I know where), so I may have to try to rent the unexpurgated version, heh.

Hi... I'm poking around the different journals - And, when I came across yours - I had a crazy deja vu moment about a dream I had last night... can't tell you what the dream was about - but it included jazz music (which is not my top choice - Although, I won't turn it off if it's on the radio - AND - I love it live... (yes - random ramblings)) I've added you to my friends list... hope that's ok...

Happy Sunday!

Do you mind if I add you? I like reading about music, poetry, lit, Bloomington (even though I haven't been there since the 90s at this point).
