Toothsome woes

Jul 26, 2005 23:43

So I managed to get a dentist appt. to deal with my busted tooth -- tried a new dentist, since I felt like the last one was put-out by my nervousness. This one was super super nice and has very small hands which, lo and behold, is a key factor in my comfort -- who woulda thunk it? I just need to see petite women dentists from now on. Anyway, the ( Read more... )

Yay for decent dentists. Implants are awesome; when it came up, both dentists involved were sort of, "Um, you can get an implant or a bridge, but you want an implant." (And neither actually stands to profit by it.) They're just pretty and reliable and don't require fucking with the two adjacent teeth. Check with your insurance -- I'm pretty sure mine, which is fairly standard, covers implants at the same rate as they cover other restorative work. Which is to say they won't pay a hell of a lot, but hey, I just got a new credit card.

Yeah, I'd rather have the implant, but I'm not optimistic about the insurance thing -- since IU is about the biggest employer in town, most doctors/dentists are pretty familiar with what they do & don't cover, and the dentist said she was pretty sure it wouldn't be covered at all. But I will call the insurance folks directly and ask, just to be sure. If not, then I don't think I will be able to do it -- it would be like two months' salary, and more than my credit-card limit. Sigh.

Blecch!

I'm hoping my dental woes are over before yours (if I'm lucky, yesterday's re-root-canal did it. . . until the next tooth blows); I'm really glad to hear you found a soothing dentist you like.

Ugh, I hope yours are good and over! The thought of a root canal terrifies me. At least my extraction only took like five minutes.

I'm feeling much better, thanks. :) The vicodin hasn't been that fun, unfortunately -- I can't even really tell any difference, except that my mouth doesn't hurt. Phbt. What fun is that??
