Dracula and a possible future date...?

Oct 16, 2010 23:11

So...I signed up for Match.com today at the urging of my wonderfully sweet ICS teacher who apparently thinks I'm fabulous and many men should want to date me.  Heh.  I know better.  But...I'm willing to give it a shot.  For 3 months, at least.  Trying not to get my hopes up...

In other news, I just watched "Bram Stoker's Dracula."  I've actually ( Read more... )

1) Match.com keeps charging my Capital One credit card and causing me to have to change numbers. I'm on my second change in about 2-3 months. That...is ridiculous. I'm biased against them for obvious reasons. But they can't be any worse than OK Cupid was.

2) The movie, was that the one with Winona Ryder? I found the movie completely boring. I often hurry past it when it's on TV.

1) Oh...great. I can't wait to see what happens when my 3 months are up, then. I'll let you know if it turns into an epic war of "Stop charging my credit card and give me my damn money back!" I remember your dating horror stories from a while ago, full of guys who were expecting sex on the first date, and I couldn't remember if they were dating site-related, and if so, which one. I'm...skeptical at best when it comes to this. I tried eHarmony a while back, but I always found a reason/came up with some excuse NOT to meet a guy. I don't know if I'm not particularly interested in any of the guys I see or I'm afraid of getting hurt or I think they may be serial killers poised to murder young, innocent women ( ... )

Well, the funny thing about Match.com? I've never ever been a part of it, but they keep billing me and I keep getting a new credit card number because of it. It's kinda weird. OK Cupid was the dating from hell moments. (To the point, I deleted the profile entirely because the guys that were attracted to me were icky at best.)

Personally, I think it's a little of all three. Some of the people online, you can see why they don't have anyone. Talking down to a potential love interest? GOOD REASON to not date.

I've decided it couldn't hurt any more than sitting around doing noting but pining over a guy who says he's interested but refuses to give me a chance. I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

So you're looking for your own Caroline while Abby wakes the hell up?

She is AWESOME in the book and very...Bella Swan-ish in the movie. Ick.Lovesick ( ... )

Amen, sister. So far, most of the guys who have e-mailed me look/sound like either serial killers or child molesters. And I've decided that I REFUSE to communicate with anyone who doesn't use proper grammar and spelling. I mean, I don't expect any of them to be professional writers, but absolutely no text-talk is allowed. I don't even use that crap when I actually text...

So you're looking for your own Caroline while Abby wakes the hell up?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! OMG, you just made my morning. Yes, you've hit the nail right on the head. Thank you...I've been searching for the proper analogy, and you found it. Now that I can give it a name, I actually feel a little bit better...

i've been on match for a couple months now... it's better than it was, but sadly after a while it's all the same ole same ole, but hopefully everything works well for you...

OKCupid.com is interesting (and free)... and there's always Geek to Geek, but there's not many people on there.

Good luck either way hon!

:o,
Dan

(and I agree about the movie...)

Thanks...I've actually tried eHarmony before, but it didn't really do anything for me. It's been a while since I tried a dating site, though, and after sharing some of my dating horror stories with my ICS (in-class support) teacher, she convinced me that I should give Match.com a try. So...I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I've read and love the book, but never watched the movie. Now I'm glad I haven't.

Hope the dating site works out!

Never, ever watch the movie. It gives you some background on Dracula, which I didn't mind so much (movies always take a few liberties with the source material)...but there was this epic love story involving his wife who committed suicide (thus causing him to renounce his faith and become nosferatu) and Mina was supposedly his dead wife reincarnated. Not cool. Not cool at all.

And it changed the whole atmosphere of the story.

Plus Mina was soooooooooooo Bella Swan-esque that I wanted to punch her in the face. THAT is not the Mina I know and love...

As for Match.com...I suppose we'll have to wait and see...
