Dracula and a possible future date...?

Oct 16, 2010 23:11

So...I signed up for Match.com today at the urging of my wonderfully sweet ICS teacher who apparently thinks I'm fabulous and many men should want to date me.  Heh.  I know better.  But...I'm willing to give it a shot.  For 3 months, at least.  Trying not to get my hopes up...

In other news, I just watched "Bram Stoker's Dracula."  I've actually ( Read more... )

horror, boys suck, vampires, movies

1) Oh...great. I can't wait to see what happens when my 3 months are up, then. I'll let you know if it turns into an epic war of "Stop charging my credit card and give me my damn money back!" I remember your dating horror stories from a while ago, full of guys who were expecting sex on the first date, and I couldn't remember if they were dating site-related, and if so, which one. I'm...skeptical at best when it comes to this. I tried eHarmony a while back, but I always found a reason/came up with some excuse NOT to meet a guy. I don't know if I'm not particularly interested in any of the guys I see or I'm afraid of getting hurt or I think they may be serial killers poised to murder young, innocent women...

Anyway, my ICS (in-class support) teacher recommended I try it after I told her some of my real-life (i.e. not dating site-related) dating horror stories. She thinks I'm wonderful and interesting and boys should be dueling each other for the pleasure of my company.

I've decided it couldn't hurt any more than sitting around doing noting but pining over a guy who says he's interested but refuses to give me a chance. I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

2) Yes. Again, I've seen it before (ages ago), and I thought time had colored my opinion of it...apparently, not so much. I was disappointed in it. Especially after having read the book, which has a wonderfully unique narration method, interesting characters, and beautiful descriptions. And, like I said, Mina Harker (Winona Ryder's character) is completely different. She is AWESOME in the book and very...Bella Swan-ish in the movie. Ick.

Well, the funny thing about Match.com? I've never ever been a part of it, but they keep billing me and I keep getting a new credit card number because of it. It's kinda weird. OK Cupid was the dating from hell moments. (To the point, I deleted the profile entirely because the guys that were attracted to me were icky at best.)

Personally, I think it's a little of all three. Some of the people online, you can see why they don't have anyone. Talking down to a potential love interest? GOOD REASON to not date.

So you're looking for your own Caroline while Abby wakes the hell up?

Lovesick puppies were aghast at her. God, she was droll. I've seen it exactly twice, and never all the way through on each time. So terrible. Horrible. I've never read the book. I'm not so good with the classics anymore. As a kid, I inhaled them, but as an adult I find them boring.

Amen, sister. So far, most of the guys who have e-mailed me look/sound like either serial killers or child molesters. And I've decided that I REFUSE to communicate with anyone who doesn't use proper grammar and spelling. I mean, I don't expect any of them to be professional writers, but absolutely no text-talk is allowed. I don't even use that crap when I actually text...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! OMG, you just made my morning. Yes, you've hit the nail right on the head. Thank you...I've been searching for the proper analogy, and you found it. Now that I can give it a name, I actually feel a little bit better...

That's why I didn't like OKC. Everyone spoke in non-human. I don't expect perfect grammar. I just want them to know that "u" is not a real word. I tend to type out full words when texting, too. It's not like I'm getting a character count since it just rolls over to the next message.

The Primeval Factor. *grins* At least you're not Abby's Stephen, since he was clearly gay for Nick. ;)

I'm just a tad anal about that...I even use proper punctuation in texts. I don't expect everyone else to, and when friends send a quick text in non-human, I'm ok with it. But, in my opinion, an e-mail to a potential date should be in proper English.

LOL True, true. It could be worse...

Bump that. Just make it readable. I mean...use things like punctuation, real words, paragraph breaks. In texts I use things like periods, not a lot of IM speak (lol type). But in an email with someone I've never met? I have higher expectations. I don't settle.

See! There's always a positive spin to put on things.
