So, we know from canon that Joe White has the resources/connections to help someone fake their death. Where oh where is the fic wherein Steve's mother turns out to be alive?

Maybe she's in Wit Sec until Wo Fat goes down once and for all (because he's carrying on a grudge his father started).. Or maybe there are other awesome possibilities I can't

It would be an awesome twist. But then I'd settle for Steve actually being upset that his mother was murdered instead of killed in an accident; I don't think the writers have brought it up at all since the reveal. I would LOVE an AU where Steve's Dad is alive, he just fails as a parent. And Steve & Mary actually have Issues about losing their mother - they think about her and they talk about her, and they just generally have issues about their absent (albeit not willingly) mother.

Huh. Now that I think about it, I just pitched the basic plot of Chuck, with Steve and Mary instead of Ellie and Chuck.
