I'd be hugely disappointed if they didn't - not necessarily a positive or absolute resolution, but it'd be very disappointing if it was just left hanging.
OH GOD. DEAN. I really almost teared up at the thought of him not having a soul. I mean, even if he has one and it's been so tarnished by hell that it's insatiable in its need for love or hope or whatever, that's different than having no soul at all. I'm wondering if Cas could tell...
That really confused me. My interpretation at the end was that he's missing a piece of himself - remember when Alistair said, "You left part of yourself back in the Pit." And Dean's mentioned before that he has a hole he can't seem to fill (insert naughty comment here).
Wouldn't be surprised if Cas knew all along. Though his well-adjusted comment was priceless. ♥
I love the idea that Cas didn't know how to bring it up, or didn't feel it was his place, or was just so caught up in trying to not be interested and owning up to the fact that he was becoming more attuned to humanity than he should be, that he ignored it. Of course, that would explain the need to eat, too. I think, strictly speaking, what Jimmy wants shouldn't have affected him so much. Even though the thought of Jimmy still being there confused me for a bit, because I had always assumed that he had been killed when Cas was discorporated the first time. I know they never mentioned it directly, but I just assumed that Cas had pulled together another body like Jimmy's, not that Jimmy's soul was actually still about. Either way, whether Cas is reacting to Jimmy or to the boys, he's definitely in deeper than he was. I love him
