Professor?

I just received an offer to teach at the University. Apparently, there is a shortage of professors and they've scrapped the Masters degree requirement. I haven't figured out why a master's degree is necessary for a teaching position when it (a master's degree) isn't applicable or necessary in the architecture profession ( Read more... )

Hmmph! I really wanted to teach a few years ago, but colleges make it unnecessarily difficult with their requirements, in my opinion. I had to get a master's, and after that siyempre I found better opportunities and don't have the time anymore. They just have to make it easier for willing practitioners to give any spare time to teach.

Come to think of it, my favorite teachers in college were the ones who were available 3 hours a week lang. Ayos na yon!

I can only guess they had good intentions when they first put in that Master's-degree requirement...only I don't think it really is application in this part of the world.

Thanks, but I can hardly be considered "prominent". I know a lot of alumni who are willing to teach, except that the timing is really bad. Everyone I know is busy with projects and I doubt if anyone would have the time to spare.
