I just received an offer to teach at the University. Apparently, there is a shortage of professors and they've scrapped the Masters degree requirement. I haven't figured out why a master's degree is necessary for a teaching position when it (a master's degree) isn't applicable or necessary in the architecture profession.
Well, I'm really interested except that we are busy with projects at the moment and I'm afraid I can't squeeze in the time. I don't want to be like some of our former professors who were perennially late or absent. I do hope that the administration finds architects who have actual experience in Design and Construction who can and are willing to teach the students. There is a serious decline in the skills and knowledge of students today.
I also think there is a serious need to revamp the curriculum as new technologies and practices have dramatically changed the architecture landscape. Of late, I noticed that much emphasis has been put on "minor" subjects and less on the real heavy stuff like Design and Building Materials and Technologies. I was quite alarmed when I found out that a big number of students are graduating with honors every year even though they didn't do well in their Design subjects.
